The Body in Inner Landscape 蔓身空間的身體

Room with fallen flowers | 有落花的空間 -2021

This building reminds me of my hometown house, in Pingtung. The house, built by my grandfather, fully preserved in the 1960s style of Taiwanese architecture, presented latticed windows, a majolica tile floor, replete with features that, from a modern perspective, could be seen as vestiges of mistakes. I noticed a few holes, hammered repeatedly in the exhibition wall, they take me back to my childhood building, to memories from there coexisting here.  These cracks and imperfections on the wall, help me feel the former presence of people even more, and I want to use morning glories, always lively, climbing on all kinds of buildings, to respond to this space, morning glories paper cut, bursting in one or multiple stems, to invade these imperfect spaces. They do not turn towards the sun, but towards a light that has passed. Water dripping in the sink, overflowing, or paper dropping from the windows, they all can be regarded as a kind of scenery, when people once were in this room.

《有落花的空間》為一件在眷村現地製作的作品,展場空間曾是一戶人家的居住空間,讓我想起在屏東的家屋,過去我與家人居住的房子是經由我爺爺一手建造出的家,風格為台灣民宅的樣式,鐵花窗、花磚,以及充斥現在修補過後的痕跡,我注意到在眷村空間中的壁磚被人重複打出的孔洞,這些孔洞勾引我回到童年那棟建築中,童年的記憶並存於這裡。對我而言這些洞,似乎更讓我感受到人的在場,家就像是人個體的延伸。我想用具有生命力且總是依附在各式建築體上的牽牛花來回應這個空間,剪紙牽牛花以單株或是多株的型態竄出,蔓延在錯置的空間中。它們並不朝向日光,而是指向過去的光。滴水在洗手檯中滿溢的狀態,或是窗紙跌落,都可以視為一種人曾經存在在這個空間中的風景。
