遊牧的捲軸
While visiting the Kyrgyz Nomadic Art Project, I observed the totems and decorations inside yurts made by women. The abstract symbols translated from animal and plant patterns connect to Kyrgyz shamanic beliefs, the natural environment, and oral storytelling. Women pass on their skills and experience to the next generation of their daughters, and these patterns inside the yurts have traveled with different generations of Kyrgyz people over time and the natural environment, not only as part of the dwelling but also as a record of their spirit of the nomadic culture.
I depict the details of the fabrics of multiple yurts in ink, transforming the tapestry material woven by needle and thread through ink threads, and trying to draw a new narrative that links my physical experience of traveling in Kyrgyzstan, interpreting the world encased in the yurts with a unfolding ink scroll.
在參與吉爾吉斯「遊牧藝術計畫」(Nomadic Art Project)的短暫期間,觀察到由婦女所製作氈包內部的圖案和裝飾,這些樣式經由動物和植物圖騰轉譯的抽象符號,連結著吉爾吉斯的薩滿信仰、自然環境以及口傳的神話史詩。婦女們將其技藝和經驗傳承給下一代的女性,而這些氈包和內部的圖騰,隨著時間和自然環境的變化,和不同世代的吉爾吉斯人一同旅行著,除了是生活居所的一部分,亦記錄下了遊牧文化的內在精神。
藝術家以水墨描繪了多個氈包的織品細節,透過墨線重新詮釋了由針線編織的掛毯材質,並書寫了新的敘事,連結著在吉爾吉斯旅行著的身體經驗,以展開的水墨捲軸詮釋了被包覆在氈包內部的世界。
